June 2018 Computer Classes at NA-FC Library
Featuring Selected Daytime Classes
Monthly computer classes at the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library are taught by knowledgeable Library staff members. Since our staff instructors all have different areas of expertise, students get to enjoy not only a variety of topics, but a variety of fun and friendly instructors as well. In addition to classes on Microsoft Word and Excel, we are pleased to offer a new class on what to do when confronted with online scams, computer viruses, and identity theft. Registration is required, and class size is currently 10 students. To register for any of the following free classes, please visit the Customer Service Desk or call 812-949-3522. Unless otherwise noted, computer classes are held in the Gallery Room, located on the lower level of the Library across from the elevator.
Monday, June 4, 6:00-7:30 PM
In this class you will learn the basics of Excel, including an overview of the beginning functions of Excel. You will learn how to open, create and save an Excel document, get a layout of the different tools, and find out the basic spreadsheet concepts and how to do some beginning data entry and formatting.
Tuesday, June 5, 10:30 AM-12:00 PM
In this class, you will learn the basics of computers. We will briefly cover the terms 'hardware' and 'software'. You will get an understanding of the different types and parts of computers and how to perform essential functions.
Wednesday, June 6, 6:00-7:30 PM
This class will build on what you learned in Beginner Excel, delving deeper into the concepts of Excel and its formatting. In addition, you will focus more on finishing your worksheet as well as how to utilize cell references between worksheets. Lastly, the instructor will cover conditional formatting and formulas that use cell references and basic mathematical calculations.

Come learn the very basics of Microsoft Word! Our instructor will cover how to open Word, create, edit and save a document, and enter and change your text, as well as changing your margins and paragraphs and making lists. Once you have created your document, you will learn the steps to print it out.
Social Media 101

Are you new to the social media game? Or, do you have a social media presence but are unsure what you are supposed to do and how? Come to class and learn some basics for various social media platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram.
Tuesday, June 19, 10:30 AM-12:00 PM
Build on what you learned in Beginner Word in this informative class. You will learn how to make and manipulate a table, how to create documents that use photos and graphics, and how to use some of the different templates that Word has available. Lastly, you will learn various formatting tools.
Scams, Viruses and Identity Theft, Oh My!
